Vetro is a collection of vintage hand-blown glass brought together from around the world. American, Italian, and Scandinavian glass from the mid-century are displayed by color. Unique styles and shapes compliment each other. This art form has become extremely rare over the years, as many of the glass manufacturers are no longer in business. Some of our pieces are close to one of a kind and unique studio pieces. This collection is offered at our gallery in La Jolla Village of San Diego, California and is available on-line as well. Our mission is to provide a breath-taking collection of mid-century glass merchandised in a manner that inspires the mind and spirit while bringing much needed color into the home. Originally, most of the pieces offered were from the private collection of James Niebling. Mr. Niebling's passion for mid-century glass began about eight years ago. After his first purchase, he knew this was a topic that deserved further attention. Through countless hours of research, James has become quite a student of glass. He has acquired and read a significant collection of books on the subject of glass, researched the internet and most recently has joined the Blenko Collectors Society. Eventually, his collection grew to contain close to two hundred pieces of extraordinary mid-century glass. In the beginning of 2004, James teamed up with Esteban Lopez, as the decision was made to combine their years of retail history and passion for glass by opening Vetro. This small gallery located in La Jolla Village of San Diego, has been well received. Most people have not, or will rarely see a collection of this magnitude in their lifetime.
